Spanish Innovation Index releases its 2025 Annual Report
The Spanish Innovation Index (ÍEI) has released its 2025 Annual Report, presenting new insights into how Spanish consumers perceive company innovation across commercial, social, and digital dimensions.
The report is presented by Lola C. Duque, Associate Professor of Marketing, and Lluís Santamaría, Associate Professor of Accounting, at Universidad Carlos III de Madrid (UC3M). Together, they co-head the Spanish Innovation Index initiative at the Institute for the Development of Enterprises and Markets (INDEM).
This fourth edition of the Index analyzes 131 companies across 21 sectors, drawing on more than 25,100 consumer responses. The results show a continued increase in perceived innovation: the Commercial Innovation Index has risen from 59.6 points in 2022 to 64.5 in 2025. IKEA leads the 2025 commercial innovation ranking, while Toyota ranks first in social innovation and Apple in digital innovation. Among Spanish companies, Zara, Balay, and Idealista lead the respective dimensions.
Developed by the Institute for the Development of Enterprises and Markets (INDEM) at Universidad Carlos III de Madrid, the Spanish Innovation Index forms part of the Innovation Index Coalition, contributing a consumer-based perspective to the Coalition’s international research on company innovation.
